Vipers Win the MABL-AAA Title

3 Pitchers Work Together As Vipers Shut Out Bombers

Vipers defeated Bombers 3-0 on Sunday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nic Bruntz, Andrew Bruntz, and Matthew Lasley each pitched for Vipers in the game. Bruntz threw out a runner after a dropped third strike to get the last out.

Both teams were strong on the bump. Vipers pitchers struck out 14, while Bombers sat down 13.

Vipers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jared Booth doubled to center field, and Bruntz grounded out, each scoring one run.

Lasley earned the win for Vipers. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Hunter Crisp took the loss for Bombers. The starter went seven innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out 10 and walking three. Bruntz collected the save. Bruntz tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Vipers in relief. The righty gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Aaron Peller and Booth each collected two hits for Vipers. Bruntz and Booth were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Vipers. Booth stole two bases. Vipers ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Vipers turned two double plays in the game.

Leadoff hitter Reed Stoltzfus led Bombers with two hits in four at bats. Bombers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Russell Torres made the most plays with 14.

MVP Matt Lasley

Matt Lasley got the MVP with 7 innings pitched, 0 runs allowed and 10 strike outs in game 1.
