Since 1959, Karl Bystrom (50), has missed only two baseball seasons, 1991 and 1992. He played collegiate baseball  for  Texas  A&M,  batting  .343  in  1972. Continuing in amateur ball, he played on two Stan Musial  League  State  Championship  teams  in Texas  and  Nebraska,  and  attended  the Stan  Musial  World Series in 1981.

Married with two children, Karl moved to Colorado Springs in 1993 and entered the newly-formed MSBL of Southern Colorado. He was Vice-President from 1995 to 1998 and has been Treasurer since 1999. He managed the League Championship team in 1997 and has been among the top three in home runs the last two years. This year will mark his fifth trip to the MSBL World Series.

“Most of our League’s success is due to those managers that helped carry us through the rough building years.” Since 1992, the Colorado Springs MSBL/MABL has grown from six to twenty teams. “My hat is off to the MSBL officials around the country who go the distance for all of us in pursuing more competitive and enjoyable baseball.”
