Cardinals Win the MSBL-A Championship

Trojans fell to Cardinals 10-6 on Sunday at Sturgeon Field.

Cardinals were the first to get on the board in the first when Steve Baldridge singled, scoring one run.

James Lee grounded out, which helped Trojans tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Cardinals jumped back into the lead in the top of the third inning after Craig Baker walked, and Todd Morse flew into a double play, each scoring one run.

Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the fifth on a home run to center field by Greg Morris. Morris was selected as the MVP of the series.

Duane Prinzing earned the win for Cardinals. The pitcher allowed eight hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two and walking one. Archie McKinley took the loss for Trojans. The righty went four innings, giving up five runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking three.

Trojans piled up 12 hits in the game. Lee provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Trojans with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Reginald Key, McKinley, and Chris Lancaster each collected two hits for Trojans. Lancaster stole three bases. Trojans stole six bases in the game. Trojans turned one double play in the game.

Cardinals tallied 13 hits in the game. Morris drove the middle of the lineup, leading Cardinals with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Baldridge went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cardinals in hits. Jed Ponti collected two hits for Cardinals in four at bats. Morris and Baker each stole multiple bases for Cardinals. Cardinals ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game. Cardinals turned one double play in the game.
