WarDogs COS Rally Defeats Bandits
Despite trailing by as many as five runs, WarDogs COS rallied to defeat Bandits 7-6 on Sunday.
Bandits got on the board in the top of the third inning after Dylan Bacon walked, Gerardo Reyes doubled to center field, CJ Mast singled down the right field line, and Ethan Sanford doubled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
WarDogs COS captured the lead, 7-5, in the bottom of the seventh when Kyle Zirbes doubled, scoring two runs, and Todd Nieuwenhuis singled, scoring one run.
Nieuwenhuis began the game for WarDogs COS. The hurler surrendered eight hits and six runs over eight innings, striking out 13 and walking six. Matt Borgman stepped on the mound first for Bandits. The pitcher allowed seven hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking eight.
Nieuwenhuis and Zirbes were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for WarDogs COS.
Stephen Hayden and Zirbes each collected two hits for WarDogs COS. TJ Howton led WarDogs COS with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. WarDogs COS ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. WarDogs COS turned one double play in the game.
Borgman and Sanford each collected two hits for Bandits. Reyes, Mast, Sanford, and Dylan Bacon each drove in one run for Bandits. Borgman paced Bandits with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Bandits ran wild on the base paths, amassing seven stolen bases for the game. Bandits turned one double play in the game.
