Bombers’s Sloan Soulia Powers Through Pistols

Sloan Soulia hit two home runs and drove in four as Bombers defeated Pistols 7-6 on Sunday. Soulia homered in the sixth and fourth innings.

Bombers came back to win despite trailing 6-1 in the third.

Pistols got on the board in the first inning after Trey Bentley doubled, scoring three runs.

Pistols added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Eli Jefferson walked, M Schwindt grounded into a fielder’s choice, and M Shaw grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.

Bombers made the score 6-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Soulia hit a solo home run to center field, Hunter Crisp singled, scoring one run, and Jared Esquivel doubled, scoring one run.

Bombers made the score 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth after Soulia homered to left field, scoring two runs, and one run scored on another play.

Ben Wirt earned the win for Bombers. The reliever allowed five hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Bentley took the loss for Pistols. The pitcher went one inning, giving up one run on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Crisp started on the mound for Bombers. The lefty allowed five hits and six runs over three innings, striking out two and walking three. Schwindt stepped on the mound first for Pistols. The hurler gave up 12 hits and six runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking none.

Bombers amassed 14 hits in the game. Esquivel, Soulia, and Eric Norman each collected two hits for Bombers. Bombers turned two double plays in the game.

Pistols piled up 10 hits in the game. Bentley went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Tanner went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Pistols in hits. Pistols turned one double play in the game.

Bombers play at home on Sunday against Vipers in their next game.
