Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Redbirds Victory Over Thunderwolves

Redbirds took Sunday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over Thunderwolves at CHC Field (#4). Redbirds were down 9-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Rudy Ayala doubled, scoring three runs.

Redbirds collected 16 hits and Thunderwolves had 15 in the high-scoring affair.

Thunderwolves jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Brett Murphy doubled, scoring two runs, and Steve Smith grounded out, scoring one run.

Thunderwolves added one run in the third. Oliver Gonzalez doubled down the left field line, making the score 4-0.

Redbirds took the lead, 10-9, in the bottom of the seventh thanks to doubles by James Atchison, and Rudy Ayala.

Keith Jackson earned the win for Redbirds. The pitcher gave up six hits and five runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Lance Kistler pitched four innings in relief for Redbirds. The pitcher gave up nine hits and four runs while, striking out one and walking one. Oliver Gonzalez took the loss for Thunderwolves. The right-handed pitcher went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking three.

Redbirds collected 16 hits in the game. Rudy Ayala, the number eight hitter for Redbirds, led the way with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Chappy Watties, Keith Jackson, Mike Guzman, and Rudy Ayala each collected two hits for Redbirds. Mike Guzman stole three bases. Redbirds stole six bases in the game. Redbirds turned two double plays in the game. Redbirds were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Bill Wiebers had the most chances in the field with five.

Thunderwolves tallied 15 hits in the game. Brett Murphy led Thunderwolves with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Jason Tolar, Oliver Gonzalez, Brett Murphy, John McDonnell, and Edgardo Gorbea each collected two hits for Thunderwolves.

Next up for Redbirds is a game at Mustangs 2026 on Sunday.
