Colt 45s Vanquish Cardinals In High-Scoring Affair

Bats were blistered as Colt 45s topped Cardinals 18-13 on Sunday at Sturgeon Field (#6). Colt 45s collected 21 hits, while Cardinals had 14.
Joe Westerman collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Joe Westerman tripled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Cardinals got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mike McKay doubled down the right field line, Bryan Gauvin grounded out, and Duane Prinzing flew out, each scoring one run.

Steve Glendenning earned the win for Colt 45s. The pitcher gave up nine hits and nine runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking three. Duane Prinzing took the loss for Cardinals. The pitcher went five innings, giving up 16 runs on 19 hits, striking out one and walking five. Bryan Gauvin started the game for Cardinals. The pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out three and walking one. Vinnie Perez tossed three innings of no-run ball for Colt 45s in relief. The pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking three.
Colt 45s tallied 21 hits in the game. Sean Kelley set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Colt 45s with four hits in four at bats. Craig Haughton and Joe Westerman each drove in three runs for Colt 45s. Vinnie Perez, David Rex, Steve Glendenning, and Troy Watson each collected multiple hits for Colt 45s. Kurt Steward and Troy Watson each stole multiple bases for Colt 45s. Colt 45s worked the count all day, tallying six walks. Colt 45s ran wild on the base paths, tallying nine stolen bases for the game. Colt 45s turned one double play in the game.
Cardinals amassed 14 hits in the game. Pete Giusti and Mike McKay each collected three hits for Cardinals. Duane Prinzing led Cardinals with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Jed Ponti and Greg Morris each collected multiple hits for Cardinals. Gary Groves paced Cardinals with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Craig Baker stole two bases.
