Grizzlies Fall After Strong Showing By CS Pistols ’26

Grizzlies couldn’t keep up with CS Pistols ’26 and fell 15-3 on Sunday at Sheels Field (#5).
CS Pistols ’26 got on the board in the first inning after one run scored on a balk.
Joe Samaco grounded into a fielder’s choice, which helped Grizzlies tie the game at one in the top of the second.
CS Pistols ’26 took the lead in the bottom of the second. Brett Derickson singled, scoring one run, to give CS Pistols ’26 the advantage, 2-1.
CS Pistols ’26 added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Andy Schmidt singled down the right field line, and Will Connor grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
CS Pistols ’26 scored six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Joe McKenzie singled, scoring two runs, Chasen Booher singled, scoring one run, a wild pitch scored one run, and Mike Wilson singled, scoring two runs.
Mike Wilson earned the win for CS Pistols ’26. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over six and one-third innings, striking out three and walking none. Josh Carrington took the loss for Grizzlies. The starter went three innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out none and walking four.
Grizzlies collected nine hits in the game. Tim Brickler went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Grizzlies in hits. Phil Plante and Bart Jennings each drove in one run for Grizzlies. Josh Carrington stole two bases. Grizzlies ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
CS Pistols ’26 accumulated 19 hits in the game. Bret Morse, CS Pistols ’26’s number nine hitter, led the team with four hits in four at-bats. Mike Wilson, Andy Schmidt, and Joe McKenzie each drove in two runs for CS Pistols ’26. Rocky Rockwell, Chasen Booher, Bud Maison, and Brett Derickson each collected multiple hits for CS Pistols ’26. CS Pistols ’26 worked the count all day, amassing eight walks.
