Strong Hitting Not Enough As Vipers Falls To Pistols

Even though Vipers collected six hits to Pistols’s four, they still fell 12-3 on Friday at Spurgeon. J.P Clune led Vipers with three hits.

Pistols were the first to get on the board in the first when Hunter McWilliams doubled, scoring one run.

Pistols added one run in the second after Vipers committed an error.

Pistols added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Buck walked, and J Hernandez grounded out, each scoring one run.

Pistols scored five runs on one hit in the top of the fifth inning. An error scored two runs, #35 drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

C McLaughlin earned the win for Pistols. The pitcher gave up four hits and three runs (zero earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Michael Gordan pitched four innings in relief for Vipers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and five runs (zero earned) while, striking out seven and walking five. Nic Bruntz took the loss for Vipers. The righty went three innings, surrendering four runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking one.

J.P Clune and Lucas Gordon each drove in one run for Vipers.

Hunter McWilliams, Dean Bernaldez, Buck, and J Hernandez each collected one hit for Pistols. Hunter McWilliams, J Biron, J Hernandez, and #35 each drove in one run for Pistols. Pistols had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Buck and J Biron led the team with two walks each.
