Big Fifth Inning Leads Bombers Past Los Gallos Cubanos

Bombers defeated Los Gallos Cubanos 12-2 on Friday at Fountain-Fort Carson Blue Field thanks in part to seven runs in the fifth inning.  Alec Ortiz singled, scoring two runs, Sloan Soulia singled, scoring one run, Jorge Pargas induced Hunter Crisp to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, an error scored one run, and Thomas Meals singled, scoring two runs.

Los Gallos Cubanos got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Raimer Mateo Alvarez doubled to center field, and Yuset Marques singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.


Bombers made the score 3-2 in the top of the fourth after K Campbell hit a solo home run to center field, and Blayke Walsh singled, scoring two runs.

Ben Wirt earned the win for Bombers. The righty gave up seven hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five and walking none. Jose Yanier Valdez took the loss for Los Gallos Cubanos. The righty went three innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking two.

Bombers accumulated 12 hits in the game. Soulia went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bombers in hits. Walsh, Ortiz, and Campbell each drove in two runs for Bombers. Scott Blosser collected two hits for Bombers in three at bats. Bombers turned two double plays in the game.

Marques and Eddy each collected two hits for Los Gallos Cubanos. Marques and Alvarez were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Los Gallos Cubanos.

Bombers will travel to Pistols for their next game on Saturday.
