Pikes Peak Prospectors Claw Back, But Fall Just Short Against Rattlers

Pikes Peak Prospectors’s effort to come back from down four runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 11-10 to Rattlers on Sunday. Pikes Peak Prospectors closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, a , and a ground out.
Josh Parkhurst collected three hits in three at bats in the loss. Josh Parkhurst doubled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Pikes Peak Prospectors got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ryan Warner grounded out, Josh Parkhurst singled to right field, and Andrew Warner singled, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Rattlers went back into the lead after Julian Navarro-Gutierrez lined out, Tanner Robertson singled, Judson Rhodes singled down the left field line, and Christian Vail doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
Pikes Peak Prospectors jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Kaden Levi singled, scoring one run, and Josh Parkhurst doubled, scoring two runs.
Rattlers tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a double by Ben Souik, and a single by Thomas Robertson.
A triple by Mark Quinlan gave Rattlers the lead, 9-6, in the bottom of the fourth.
Jess Howard stepped on the bump first for Pikes Peak Prospectors. The starter gave up nine hits and six runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Johnny Watry stepped on the hill first for Rattlers. The hurler gave up 11 hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Pikes Peak Prospectors accumulated 13 hits in the game. Josh Parkhurst and Kaden Levi each collected three hits for Pikes Peak Prospectors. Paden Fischer and Andrew Warner each collected multiple hits for Pikes Peak Prospectors. Paden Fischer led Pikes Peak Prospectors with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Paden Fischer and Josh Parkhurst each stole multiple bases for Pikes Peak Prospectors. Pikes Peak Prospectors stole eight bases in the game.
Rattlers accumulated 14 hits in the game. Bryan Chang, Tanner Robertson, and Ben Souik each collected two hits for Rattlers. Mark Quinlan went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Thomas Robertson paced Rattlers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Ben Souik stole two bases. Rattlers ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. Rattlers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. #78 had the most chances in the field with three.
